Fine Wine on Mountain Time

You don't have to travel far to find exceptional wine. Our Five local wineries sit in the beautiful appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina, each growing its grapes and crafting its wine right here at home.

Grab a passport, hit the road, and join us on the Nc High Country Wine Trail.

About The Trail

Tucked into the peaks and valleys of the North Carolina High Country, five wineries have come together to invite you on a journey through Wine Country in the High Country.

This isn't a collection of tasting rooms pouring wine made somewhere else — every stop on the High Country Wine Trail grows its own grapes and produces its own wine, right where you're standing. And with less than 30 minutes between each winery, the trail was made for wandering: linger over a flight, take in the mountain views, and let the next stop be just down the road.

Our Story

The High Country Wine Trail began with a simple idea: we're better together. Our five wineries have always been more than neighbors. We cheer each other on, send visitors down the road to one another, and share a deep love for making wine in our appalachian mountains.

In 2026, we made it official. Old Barn Winery, Mill Camp Wines & Ciders, Grandfather Vineyard & Winery, Banner Elk Winery & Villa, and Linville Falls Winery & Vineyards came together to create a trail that is owned and run by the wineries themselves. Our goal is to celebrate the community and camaraderie we've found in one another, and to share the North Carolina High Country as the unique wine region we know it to be.

When you visit one of us, you're welcomed by all of us. We can't wait to share our corner of the mountains with you.
